Earthprint: Why we must give back more than we take<\/h1>\n

In a world where climate, biodiversity and social crises<\/strong> are inextricably linked, it is not enough to know only the CO\u2082 footprint or compensate emissions. We need an Earthprint<\/strong> \u2013 a metric and way of thinking that captures which resources we use and actively restore. Only this way does true environmental responsibility emerge, balancing the needs of present and future generations.<\/p>\n

“Everything is connected”: Inspiration from Laudato si’<\/em><\/h2>\n

Pope Francis warns in his encyclical Laudato si’<\/em> that we must treat our Earth like a common home. He emphasizes:<\/p>\n

  • The ecology of humans<\/strong> and nature are one: Social, economic and ecological aspects must not be separated.<\/li>\n
  • Duty of care<\/strong> towards the poor and marginalized: Environmental destruction primarily affects people in extreme poverty.<\/li>\n

      Mindful, respectful treatment of nature and creation heritage in the sense of Laudato si’<\/em>.<\/p>\n

      Only those who balance in all four dimensions<\/strong> recognize the full scope of their actions \u2013 and their responsibility to give back more than taken<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

        • A city dweller converts his car consumption into liters of gasoline and compensates by maintaining urban green spaces and planting trees.<\/li>\n
        • A company balances the consumption of electricity and raw materials and invests the equivalent in educational programs for disadvantaged communities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
