CO\u2082 Balance per Person vs. Paulownia Compensation<\/h4>\n<p>Average CO\u2082 footprint:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Global: 4.8 tons CO\u2082 per person per year (Worldometer CO\u2082 data)<\/li>\n<li>Europe (e.g., Germany): ~8 tons CO\u2082 per person per year<\/li>\n<li>USA: up to 14.2 tons CO\u2082 per person per year<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>CO\u2082 absorption by a Paulownia tree:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Conservative estimate: 50 kg CO\u2082 per tree per year (varies by age, site, and care, but on average, plantation-grown Paulownia can bind about 35\u201350 kg per year; mature trees or ideal conditions may yield even higher values).<\/li>\n<li>Agroforestry systems can reach up to 40 tons CO\u2082\/hectare\/year (about 35 kg\/tree\/year for 1,100 trees per hectare). Realistic Solutions for Individuals<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CO\u2082 reduction: Save energy, use green energy, eat less meat, prefer cycling\/public transport. This can reduce your footprint by 30\u201350% and lower the number of trees needed.<\/li>\n<li>Compensation: Plant 10\u201320 Paulownia trees\/year (500\u20131,000 kg CO\u2082\/year offset). Offset the rest via certified climate projects (e.g., forest conservation, renewables).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Recommendation<\/p>\n<p>A pure Paulownia offset for a private person\u2019s CO\u2082 footprint is hardly practical \u2013 160 trees per year is simply too much.
